The Glenuig Inn up for an award

Nearby Glenuig Inn – a firm favourite with many Coopers Knowe House guests – has been shortlisted for a prestigious award in recognition of its environmentally friendly strategy.

The Glenuig Inn, whose electricity comes from a hydroelectric power scheme and which is heated by means of a biomass boiler partly run on scrapings from customers’ plates, has succeeded in reducing its energy bills to just 2.5 percent of turnover. It is one of 32 Scottish companies that have been shortlisted for this year’s Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards following a record number of entries.
